A woman made a TikTok video claiming that her old employer accidentally deposited $3,000 into her account and then asked her to mail them a check returning funds. The video uploaded by Rebuildingmary has already garnered over 3 million views with more than 7,000 comments from supportive TikTok users. One user commented,
“The bank can reverse it, don’t go out of your way. Send them an email/text and tell them to please stop payment on their deposit.”
The TikToker details the encounter in the video. She explains that she noticed a large amount of money in her account from her old job, the Texas Education Agency. She then contacted them to inform them that she believes they mistakenly deposited money into her account. She shows the emails between her and her old job, as they admitted to accidentally depositing funds into her account and asked if she can write them a check for that amount. The woman noted in the video that she hasn’t been employed with them for two months and is annoyed that she has to possibly go out of her way to make up for their mistakes.
In a follow-up video, she added that she emailed the company’s business office informing them of how far she lived and asked if the payment can be reversed. Luckily, the office contacted the bank and the charges were reversed. The TikToker mentioned that it’s strange that she was terminated, yet, they kept her on the payroll.
