A bungee jumper fell 150 feet to her death after hearing her instructor say jump and thought it was directed toward her, NY Post reports.

Yecenia Morales Gómez, 25, and her boyfriend visited Sky Bungee Jumping Amaga in northern Colombia in what was reportedly their first time bungee jumping. According to the outlet, each visitor was given a harness but Gómez wasn’t hooked up to the security equipment when she heard instructors say

“jump”

which was a command given to her boyfriend.

“She got confused,”

Gustavo Guzmán, the mayor of the municipality of Fredonia, Antioquia, told the outlet.

“The signal was for the boyfriend to jump because he was already attached to the security equipment. They had only put the harness on her so she got confused and rushed.”

Her boyfriend tried performing life-saving measures but medical reports state that she died of cardiac arrest during the fall. She was declared dead at the scene. Sky Bungee Jumping said they are working together with investigators but deny claims that Gómez

“confused commands”

from their instructor.

“It is not true, as reported, that Yecenia Morales Gómez’s jump was due to the confusion of a jump command given to her friend,”

the company said in a statement.

“At the time of the accident, nobody jumped, neither her boyfriend nor anyone else.”
