A Cecil County woman from Elkton has been arrested on several arson-related charges after causing a house fire.
Fox45 reports on Thursday around 1:15 pm a fire department was notified after witnesses saw Gail J. Metwally
“setting multiple fires within the home and then sitting in a chair on the front lawn, where she watched the fire engulf the home.”
Metwally reportedly walked away minutes after she sat down as the fire continued while someone was inside of the blazing home.
Luckily, bystanders heard the victim’s cry for help. They managed to safely help her out of the window.
According to Fox45 , as a result of the incident,
”Cecil County Sheriff’s Office observed Metwally in the area, where she was detained and transported to the Maryland State Police North East Barrack.”
Metwally’s hearing is currently pending as she is being charged with
“1st and 2nd Degree Attempted Murder, 1st Degree Arson, 1st Degree Assault, two counts of Malicious Burning 1st Degree, two counts of Malicious Destruction of Property, and two counts of Reckless Endangerment, ”
No reports on whether the victim was injured or not has been reported.
