Viral Footage Shows Carnival Cruise Ship Carrying Over 2,000 Passengers Catching Fire In Turks and Caicos

Shocking videos show a carnival cruise ship on fire in the Turks and Caicos. It has been confirmed that the fire began after the ship arrived at Grand Turk, according to the New York Post

Matt Lupoli, the company’s spokesperson told The Post,

“Carnival Freedom’s emergency response team quickly activated and extinguished a fire inside the ship’s funnel while the ship was in Grand Turk. All guests and crew are safe, and the ship’s guests were cleared by local authorities to go ashore.”

Luckily, no one was injured and the ship wasn’t evacuated amid the fire. It’s unclear how the fire began. During the fire, the ship carried 2,500 passengers and 1,100 staff members, said the cruise line.

A passenger, Jenny Fleming, noted that she was drinking coffee on the balcony with her mother around 7:30 a.m. She told Florida Today that people who were on another cruise ship told them about the fire. She noted,

“Mom runs inside and calls 911, and we were apparently the first to report it.”

Thankfully, firefighters were able to put the fire out.
