Three American friends were found dead in an Airbnb they booked for a vacation in Mexico City, NY Post reports.

Kandace Florence and Jordan Marshall, both 28, and Courtez Hall, 33, visited Mexico in late October to celebrate the traditional holiday Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead. Florence’s boyfriend, who did not attend the trip, said he spoke to Florence on the phone the night she was found. He said she expressed feeling sick and then suddenly the phone call dropped. He then contacted the Airbnb host, asking to perform a welfare check.

Local police arrived on the scene and discovered Florence and her two male friends, Marshall and Hall, dead. The Mexican capital’s office of the attorney general told Dailymail that the travelers died from inhaling carbon monoxide.

According to the families of the deceased, they have been in contact with the US Embassy in Mexico but have been struggling with language barriers.

“It’s been so hard,”

Ceola Hall told the outlet.

“We tried calling back over there for the funeral homes. Because of the language barrier and stuff you cannot get anything through or really understand.”
