A Texas man used his Apple AirTag to hunt down a thief who stole his truck, shooting and killing the suspect, Business Insider reported.

The San Antonio Police Department told local reporters that they were contacted about a stolen vehicle on Wednesday at around 1 p.m. The owner of the vehicle reportedly took matters into his own hands by tracking down his truck using his Apple AirTag. He allegedly discovered the suspect sitting in the driver’s seat of his truck in the parking lot of a shopping center. He approached the suspect, which resulted in a deadly exchange.

The car owner, allegedly shot the suspect before police showed up at the scene. The man, who police described as a

“Hispanic man in his 30s”

was pronounced dead on the scene. Police have chosen not to identify the shooter or the suspect as an investigation is still underway.

According to the car owner, the thief allegedly had a weapon which is why he fired his gun. SAPD Information Officer Nick Soliz told the local outlet that if the truck thief did have a weapon it could determine whether the shooter faces charges or not.
