Teen Convicted Of Murdering Police Captain’s Husband, According To Reports

A 19-year-old Baltimore, Maryland man was convicted Monday of the second-degree murder of a city police officer’s husband, according to court documents obtained by Fox News

Sahiou Kargbo, 19, is accused of fatally shooting James Blue III, the husband of Baltimore Police Capt. Lekeshia Blue. Officials connected Kargbo to the crime through surveillance footage and witness reports, charging documents state. The teen was 18 and in high school at the time of the crime. 

Kargbo was convicted in February 2022 for the fatal shooting. According to CBS station WBAL, which covered the trial, said Kargbo’s defense attorney claimed that the teen is

“intellectually disabled with a fourth-grade reading level,”

and that his client was overcharged and

“investigated aggressively,”

due to the victim’s wife being a high-ranking officer. Kargbo also took the stand in his defense to which he told the jury

“the gun did the work by itself.”

Kargbo reportedly shot Blue 10 times from behind. He was found guilty of second-degree murder along with three firearms charges, reports state.
