In a brave act to defend herself against an armed robber at this woman’s place of work, she is being punished by Subway manager as she has been oddly suspended from her job.
Employee Araceli Sotelo who works at the Subway in Rockford, IL, was robbed at gun point and it was caught on the store’s surveillance camera which was leaked to the local Rockford Scanner. In the clip you can see the two get into a scuffle and Sotelo disarms the man of his gun and even hits him with it. What you would think is a courageous moment, it gets diminished as the manger contacts her afterwards.
The manager told Sotelo that she will not be coming back to work or paid until the video was removed entirely from the internet. Sotelo told WTVO she did not leak the video, and says the owner is ignoring her. She said, “They did not want anyone to know, they wanted to be private that it happened to me and that I fought back, but I think they did that because they do not want corporate to know.”
Although nothing was stolen from the Subway but her own personal items were stolen like her purse and her phone was broken. A GoFundMe has been set up to help with the repairs.
