On Monday, August 29th, a 14 year old girl was waiting outside of a library in downtown Sioux Falls, when she was approached by a man asking if she wanted to earn some money, as reported by Dakota News Now. After entering his vehicle, the man offered the teen money in exchange for sex. The minor declined his offer, and he began to grope her. She then demanded he stop the car, and she got out. As she exited the vehicle, the man smacked the girl on her rear end.
After getting away, the teen ran back into the library and notified her father, who then notified police. A library security guard was able to identify the car from a surveillance video, and then get the license plate number of the car when the man drove by the library the next day. Police were finally able to name a suspect.
During the early hours of Friday morning, around 3:30 A.M., officers stopped a car for vehicle traffic violations and discovered the driver was the suspect they had been looking for.
31 year old Aaron Sharpfish was arrested and charged with simple assault, procuring or promoting prostitution, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, solicitation of a minor, and hiring for sexual activity. He will remain in Minnehaha County Jail as he awaits his bond hearing.
