School Under Fire After Banning Students From Wearing Hoodies, Short Dresses, and ‘Unnatural Hair Coloring’ To Prepare Them For The ‘Future Workforce’

A Texas school is receiving backlash after releasing new dress code restrictions that prohibits student from wearing

“hoodies, short dresses, and ‘unnatural hair coloring’,”

Insider reports.

The Forney Independent School District released a video calling its new dress code

“Back for the Future,”

intended for students to get ready for the

“future work force.”

“There are so many important future workforce skills that we want to impart in our kids as they head off to have a successful future,”

Superintendent Justin Terry said, per Insider reports.

“Things like creativity and collaboration are so important, but what’s also important are some of the foundational baseline employability skills.”

Students and parents are not pleased with the school’s dress code restrictions. Brooklynn Hollaman, a student at the school, created an online petition to protest the school district’s policies.

“They claim to help improve self-esteem by making students wear things that make them uncomfortable, but when has forcing someone into something ever been the right way to make them more comfortable?”

Kenzie Garret wrote as a reason for signing the petition.
