According to the New York Post, a Florida mother’s car caught on fire with her two children inside when she was simultaneously shoplifting at a department store, officials say. On May 26, 24-year-old Alicia Moore reportedly parked her vehicle outside of Dillard’s at the Oviedo Mall. A police report attained by Fox Orlando said that her two young children were in the car at the time adding that the children

“could not care for themselves.”

Moore entered the department store with an unidentified man and allegedly began shoplifting, officials say. When she exited the store almost one hour later, she discovered her vehicle on fire. The 24-year-old reportedly dropped the stolen objects and ran to the car. Following the explosion, bystanders immediately tried to help the children. According to a police report, one child had

“first-degree burns to the face and ears,”

reports The Post.

Footage shared by the City of Oviedo shows the white vehicle in flames. The car was totaled due to the explosion and it’s unclear what caused the fire.

The mother was apprehended and

“charged with aggravated child neglect and arson as well as petty theft and battery charges,”

reports The Post. According to jail records, she’s being held on a $48,000 bond.
