People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, an animal rights organization is requesting for women to go on a sex strike against men who consume meat. The group’s German division believes eating sausages contributes to toxic masculinity, which is

“killing the planet,”

reports the New York Post. The group believes going on a sex strike would

“change the world.”

Marketing manager for PETA Australia, Laura Weyman-Jones, detailed the ban. She noted that the sex strike was implemented to serve as a

“conversation starter,”

adding,

“we really don’t care about your sex lives. What we do care about is the planet and the animals we share it with and those animals are dying by the billions in the crudest ways imaginable for burgers and sandwich filling.”

The organization revealed a study posted by PLOS ONE, a scientific journal. The study reveals that men contribute to

“41 percent more greenhouse gas emissions than women largely because they consume more meat,”

reports The Post.

Team Leader Campaigns at PETA Germany, Daniel Cox, said in a statement,

“Now there’s scientific evidence that toxic masculinity also harms the climate. So a hefty meat tax of 41 percent for men would be appropriate. A ban on sex or reproduction for all meat-eating men would also be expedient in this context.”
