ONSITE! Exclusive: Kenny Lattimore Talks New Album ‘Here To Stay’, Parenthood, Career Success, and Future Goals

Kenny Lattimore is ‘Here To Stay’ as he has proclaimed in his new album title. The R&B singer/songwriter, talked about the inspiration behind his new album, his single ‘Take A Dose’ hitting #1 on Billboards Adult R&B charts after 25 years, being a new father and his wife, Divorce Court’s very own Judge Faith Jenkins.

The Grammy nominated artist said he dedicated this album to the current state of his life now and is humbled by the feedback he’s been receiving for his new single ‘Take A Dose.’

“Initially I just wanted to do some songs that were reflective of my relationship with Faith. I was like this is where I am, this is what I’m living right now and I want the world to know… ‘Here To Stay,’ the actual title the label came up with… I [thought] it was appropriate, not having any idea that ‘Take A Dose’ would be a number one song… because it was still authentic [to my life].”

Lattimore took us back to the 90s as he reflected on the success of his record ‘For You’ that hit record breaking numbers on the billboard charts amid its release in 96′, going 17 weeks at #1. The love song has resonated with many couples and graced the rooms of so many weddings almost 3 decades later.

“Starting your career out like that it was a lot to live up to,”

Kenny said.

“The writer of that song is a gentleman named Kenny Lerum, one of my best friends from high school. He literally wrote that song for his wedding… and all we knew that it was a beautiful song and that the world should here it… We never sat down together to try to come up with something to make money… it was his personal song that I asked if I could record for my demo… I’m just happy it resonated.”

Surprisingly enough the new father revealed that he did not play the classic at his own wedding but had the opportunity of having the legendary Stevie Wonder sing ‘You and I’ as Jenkins walked down the aisle.

Lattimore has had a long-standing career making feel good music for generations and is looking forward to serving and making more memorable songs that fans can relate to.

“The fans can expect me to be dedicated to the message of love… to continue to take risks and do things that are outside of the box… My goal to myself personally is to take care of me physically so that I can come to a city and sing so people could hear me live… There’s nothing like singing live to me.”

#Clique, be sure to tune into Kenny Lattimore’s new album ‘Here To Stay’ and look out for him in a city near you.
