Ohio is holding a Vax-a-Million lottery, giving away cash and scholarships for residents who have been vaccinated. It’s part of an incentive to get the shot after the state saw a decline, and the governor says that it’s working.
Gov. Mike DeWine said that 2.8 million people have registered for the lotto and that vaccinations rose 6% since they announced the program on May 12.
Starting May 26, one adult will win $1 million, and one child will win a full-ride college scholarship each week until June 23. The money is part of the CARES Act fund.
We have to use this money to bring awareness, to help encourage and to facilitate uptake of the vaccine,” Director of the Department of Health Stephanie McCloud said.
Clique, would a chance at a million dollars persuade you to get vaccinated?
