New Jersey Man Charged For Fatally Running Over Girlfriend’s Ex-Boyfriend Multiple Times

On November 24th, a woman filed a report with police alleging her ex-boyfriend, 36-year-old Jason Freeman. In the report, she claims that Freeman had been stalking and harassing her. She was taking steps towards obtaining a restraining order.

Five days later, her current boyfriend, 32-year-old Marvin L. Tyler, arrived in her car to pick her up after her shift in Old Bridge, New Jersey. Freeman suddenly approached the new beau and began to question Tyler about his relationship with his former girlfriend. According to Audacy, the scorned man then entered the vehicle to steal the paper work in the glove compartment and grabbed a newly purchased iPhone as well. Tyler attempted to run after Freeman in order stop to stop the theft, but stopped once Freeman threatened him with a knife and ran back to his own vehicle with the stolen items in hand.

Once Tyler was able to reenter the ransacked car, Freeman returned and began slashing at the vehicle’s tires. Tyler then responded by running the man over multiple times, and then fled. At around 5:05 P.M., Freeman was pronounced dead at the scene by medical professionals. Both the phone and the paperwork were found in his vehicle.

Three days later, Tyler turned himself in at the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office. He has been charged with aggravated manslaughter and two weapons offenses.
