A Florida mother who spent her life savings to help pay for her daughter’s breast cancer treatments became a millionaire after winning a scratch-off ticket, per Insider.

Geraldine Gimblet, of Lakeland, Florida stopped at a gas station in the city to buy her favorite scratch-off ticket, the Bonus Cashword. When she arrived the clerk told her there was no more left, but Gimblet determined, asked him to take another look.

“I asked him to double-check because I like the crossword games the best. He found the last one!”

Gimblet told lottery officials. The clerk handed Gimblet the last ticket which happened to be the winning ticket of $2 million.

Gimblet and her family experienced two miracles as her daughter had just finished her cancer treatment a day before her huge win.

“The day before my mom bought this ticket, I rang the bell and walked out of the hospital after completing my last treatment for breast cancer,”

her daughter, who was not named, shared with lottery officials.

“My mom had taken out her life savings to take care of me when I was sick. Im just so happy for her!”

Gimblet, her daughter, and her granddaughter were all smiles as they posed with their winning check at the lottery headquarters in Tallahassee on Friday. Gimblet decided on the lump sum option, taking home her $1.6 million prize win.
