A Florida man, accused of driving 100 mph in a 40 mph zone with three children in the back seat, told officers he was speeding to get his girlfriend to a job interview at Taco Bell, NY Post reported.

Jevon Pierre Jackson, 22, was arrested Tuesday with a suspended license. Police say Jackson flew past them at a speed of 100 mph while driving along DeGroodt Road near Falls Church Road in Palm Spring, a 40-mph zone. According to an affidavit obtained by WKMG-TV, Jackson was

“swerving in and out of traffic at high speeds in a black Mercedes.”

At one point the driver allegedly

“split the lane,”

nearly causing a

“head-on collision”

with a white pickup truck, according to police.

Palm Springs police pulled the vehicle over, where they discovered three young children sitting in the back seat. Jackson explained to police that he was speeding to get his girlfriend to a job interview at Taco Bell, according to the affidavit. Police found out that Jackson had a history of traffic violations. He was taken into custody and booked at the Brevard County Jail.

He faces charges of reckless driving, habitual traffic offender, and three counts of child neglect reports note.
