Reports have been circulating of a Georgia homeless man, Austin Stovall, kidnapping a girl and raping her inside of a park bathroom on Mother’s Day.
The 33-year-old old man was recently arrested for the act that occurred at the Swift-Cantrell Park in Kennesaw, according to officials. He has been charged with
“multiple felony counts including rape, aggravated sexual battery, kidnapping and false imprisonment,”
per the New York Post.
William Westenberger, the Police Chief, said,
“First, my thoughts are with the victim and their family following this egregious incident. This is something that no juvenile should ever have to experience.”
“We take our oath to protect and serve very seriously. The suspect was identified, apprehended and will now be held accountable for his actions.”
According to The Post, this was the first encounter
to happen in the park that resides outside of Atlanta. Officials say the homeless man called the teen, who is under 16 years old, to his car and intimidated her by telling her he will
if she didn’t go with him to the men’s bathroom. He then reportedly went on to rape her after forcing her into a corner in the public bathroom.
The suspect remains behind bars without bond.
