Group Of Thirty Thieves Steals Thirteen Vehicles From Dealership In Flint, Michigan

Early Monday morning, in Flint, Michigan, around thirty people were involved with a mass car theft from a car dealership, as reported by Fox 2 Detroit. During the heist, some of the suspects exchanged gunfire with a security guard on duty. Though the the guard was not injured, thirteen vehicles were stolen.

“Fired shots at him, he exchanged gunfire with those suspects,” Flint Police Chief Terance Green explained. “They were able to get into vehicles and drove through the gate, damaging other vehicles on the way out, and were able to get away.”

One of the thieves, that had driven off in a Ford Mustang, crashed an hour later. The car caught fire, and the driver that had been trapped in the vehicle, died at the scene. Two other cars were involved in a collision, but the state of the drivers and passengers have not been released to the public. Two Dodge Durangos were seen driving through the campus of Oakland University, causing the university to issue a shelter-in-place order until they were seen driving away.

As of today, seven of the thirteen vehicles have been recovered and two suspects have been placed into police custody. Authorities believe that the incident was the work of an organized group from Detroit that specializes in car theft. With the gun violence, car accidents, and the large amount of perpetrators at large, local police have said that they are thankful that no innocent bystanders have been injured.
