Girl In Coma With Burns To 90% Of Body After Jumping In Hot Spring To Save Dog

A 20-year-old girl who jumped into a hot geyser trying to save her dog has third-degree burns to 90% of her body and is in a coma while getting skin grafts, Daily Mail reports.

Last week, Laiha Slayton was visiting a hot spring in Wyoming with her family, when their puppy jumped into one of the piping hot pools. She jumped into the 190-degree water to try and save the dog, and her father pulled them both out seconds later.

Her sister posted that their dad “heard the puppy screaming for its life with every bit of air it had in its lungs then watched his daughter nearly kill herself to save her dog, then injured himself while rescuing her.”

Slayton was rushed to a nearby hospital and has since had four surgeries to treat the burns and replace her skin, which is covered in third-degree and second-degree burns. Doctors put her in a medically-induced coma so she can heal better.

Rusty, the Shih Tzu pup, was taken to a nearby vet but sadly did not make it. Laiha has not been told yet.

Clique, say a prayer for this girl!
