Derek Chauvin, the accused murderer of George Floyd, has been placed on suicide watch following his arrest Friday.
According to TMZ, Chauvin has been placed in isolation and is being watched continuously 24/7 around the clock, with cameras and guards checking on him. They are also monitoring him in person every 15 minutes.
Chauvin isn’t characterized as suicidal, but given the circumstances around the case, this is the only thing guards can do to keep him safe. He will be in his cell 23 hours a day.
