CityMD Mistakenly Told 15,000 People With Coronavirus Antibodies They Were Immune

Urgent care health provider CityMD mistakenly told 15,000 people in the NY and NJ area that they were immune from Covid—even though they tested positive for coronavirus antibodies.

According to CNBC, CityMD customers who logged into the online patient portal to retrieve their results received an inaccurate statement. The provider attributed the false reports to “an editing error,” that has since been corrected.

“Due to an editing error in the patient portal, some CityMD patients have received incorrect information saying a positive result on the COVID-19 antibody test confers immunity,”

Public health officials have previously said they don’t know yet whether antibodies give people immunity against the coronavirus.
