St. Mary’s Medical Center, a Catholic hospital in Colorado, is facing a class-action lawsuit after it was revealed that a former nurse allegedly sexually abused unconscious patients, Insider reports.
The Grand Junction Police Department told the outlet that they arrested Christopher Lambros, 61, on October 25th on three felony counts of sexual assault. Lambros, who has been working for the hospital for 10 years, was caught by another hospital staff in mid-action. According to an arrest warrant obtained by Insider, Lambros allegedly
“exposed the genitals of an unconscious woman and taken a picture of himself with his head on her stomach,”
reports reveal. The staff member said they reported Lambros to their supervisor who then conducted an internal investigation.
The victim identified in the class-action lawsuit by the initials M.C., was informed about the incident three days later. Following an investigation, law enforcement revealed that Lambros had around 65,000 hours of cellphone videos recorded and 700,000 photos on his cellphone. Rathod Mohamedbhai LLC, the law firm that represents two victims in the class-action suit, said in a statement that,
“Nurse Lambros [had videos of him] sucking on the breasts of and digitally penetrating unconscious female patients.”
Lambros remains in custody. His bail is set to $250,000. The victims are suing St. Mary’s Medical Center for
“not sufficiently protect patients from abuse by Lambros and ‘knew or should have known’ of his misconduct — which included allegations of drugging, sexually penetrating, and recording his victims without their knowledge or consent.”
Bryan Johnson, president of St. Mary’s Medical Center, said in the statement emailed to Insider, that the hospital is working closely with law enforcement to support the ongoing investigation.
“What this former nurse is accused of is reprehensible and goes against everything we believe and value at St. Mary’s Medical Center.”
