 Brooklyn Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing $12k Of Stimulus Checks

31-year-old Feng Chen of Brooklyn, NY was arrested Tuesday for allegedly stealing nine coronavirus relief checks totaling more than $12,000 from the mail.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Brooklyn Federal Court., Chen was spotted going through the mail at several residential buildings and a medical office in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. 

U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Richard P. Donoghue, said in a statement,

“For many families, these stimulus checks are a lifeline in these difficult times and anyone who tries to cut that lifeline will face the full weight of the law. This office will vigorously prosecute all those who seek to take advantage of the public health crisis.”

Feng was charged with possession of the stolen property and criminal trespass at the state level, and mail theft at the federal level.
