A 10-year-old boy from Pennsylvania escaped a potential kidnapping after asking a cashier if she can pretend to be his mother, reports PEOPLE. On Friday, the youngster, Sammy Green, was headed home from school as he walked alone when a woman started trailing behind him, reports ABC 6 Philidelphia.
The 10-year-old boy’s father, Sam Green, told the news station,
“(She) started walking with him and asking him where his family was, asking where his dad was.”
Sammy told CBS 10 Philadelphia that the unidentified woman attempted to draw him into a convenience store.
“She was like, ‘I’m going to Wawa, are you going there? What are you getting from Wawa? Where’s your family at?’,”
said the boy.
The fourth-grader didn’t know the woman causing him to go into a familiar store called Dani Bee Funky. He then approached a 17-year-old cashier and said,
“act like you’re my mom, this lady is following me.”
Surveillance footage shows the boy asking the 17-year-old cashier, Hannah, for assistance. The footage also shows the woman standing at the front door. The cashier then went on to lock the door.
The owner of the store, Dani Small, said,
“I am very proud of her. Hannah is a 17-year-old young lady. She did everything correctly.”
