Blacklight Experiment Demonstrates How Fast COVID-19 Can Spread In Restaurants

CNN

A viral video shows how germs and other viruses similar to coronavirus can be spread by just one infected person in a restaurant.

The experiment, conducted by NHK—a Japanese public broadcasting organization with health experts— shows how one person in a group of ten can infect everyone at a buffet, according to CNN.

In the video, the infected person is seen innocently enjoying an evening out with friends, not thinking about the possibility of cross-contamination. At the end of the clip, all the participants are cast under a blacklight, which illuminates where the “infection” has spread.

The substance used to signify the COVID-like germs was seen on food, serving utensils, and even some of the participant’s faces. Experts say this is a good reminder to stress the importance of washing your hands.
