Baltimore Uses Police Drones For Flying Surveillance, Allegedly Targeting Black Neighborhoods

It’s getting real out here. Baltimore just voted in favor of a surveillance program that would allow drones to fly around and document happenings on the streets when the police can’t.

The vote took place last Wednesday and ended in a 3-2 result. They agreed on a 6-month trial run to see if the drones are useful. The cameras attached to the drone would take pictures that could be used to solve murders, shootings, armed robberies, and carjackings.

Hold on though, some people are highly upset because they believe it’s targeted toward black neighborhoods. The State Attorney, David Rocah has some things to say. “They are overwhelmingly located in Baltimore’s black and brown neighborhoods,” he said. “The racial impact of this technology is significant.”

How do y’all feel about this new surveillance program?
