A 3-year-old from South Carolina mistakenly fatally shot his mother on Wednesday, according to the New York Post. The toddler grasped the gun not too long before 8 a.m and fired at his mom, 33-year-old Cora Lyn Bush. The tragic incident occurred at their home in Spartanburg.
The woman was taken to the hospital and later died. The toddler’s grandmother, who witnessed the act, admitted that the unidentified 3-year-old shot his mother after
“gaining access to an unsecured firearm,”
According to the Spartanburg Sherriff’s Office, the grandmother’s story
“corroborated with both the evidence at the scene and the injury to the victim.”
However, the investigation is still ongoing.
