Good men are hard to find; thus we have to expand the search a bit, because women today are finding love in the most unconventional ways. Take it from WNBA star Maya Moore, who just married the man she helped free from prison.

The Olympic gold medalist spoke to “Good Morning America” alongside her new husband, Johnathan Irons, revealing she put her career on hold back in 2019 to focus on his release from jail. Irons was serving a sentence of 50 years for burglary and assault at the Jefferson City Correctional Center in Missouri.

He served over twenty years of his sentence before the conviction was overturned in March 2020. Irons officially became a free man in July. The couple met through a prison ministry program when Moore was 18-years-old, after her family introduced them.

Irons popped the question twice beige the two actually tied the knot.
