It looks like money took precedence over a life in the unfortunate case of Las Vegas dad 27-year-old Sidney Deal who was arrested for refusing to allow people to break his window and save his 1-year-old daughter locked inside.
During an interview with detectives, Deal’s brother said he received a call from his brother and immediately drove to the home, and when he got there, he immediately wrapped his shirt around his hand and offered to punch out the window, but was stopped by Deal who allegedly claimed he didn’t have enough money to fix the broken window, the New York Post reports.
Deal had his brother call their mom to have her insurance company send a locksmith. Deal’s girlfriend also told police that she called the insurance company for him, but he told her to hang up when he didn’t agree with the price quoted for a tow truck.
Officers arrived at the scene and offered to break the window, call a tow truck or get a locksmith, the father refused due to the price. After several minutes, the officers went through with smashing the window and pulled out the unresponsive girl, who died at the scene, police said.
He was booked on one count of child abuse or neglect causing substantial bodily harm and is being held on $20,000 bond.
