As protests across the world continue as people stand in unity for black lives, one protest for the late Elijah McClain became violent and left some protesters injured in Aurora, Colorado.
Aurora police are investigating a shooting that happened on I-225, while a group of protesters was marching for a call to justice for McClain. The teen died when police put him in a chokehold in August 2019. During the protest, a Jeep was caught on video speeding through the crowd causing chaos amongst the protestors as they tried to get out of the way quickly.
Many of the protestors began throwing things at the vehicle, but one decided to fire off a few shots at the vehicle that injured two of the protestors. Both were taken to the hospital and are in stable condition.
Aurora PD later pulled over the Jeep, and the driver was contacted about the incident. The driver was not arrested, but the vehicle was impounded. The police are now trying to find out who fired the shots.
