The owner of Essence, Richelieu Dennis, has stepped down as CEO due to recent allegations made over toxic work conditions revealed in an expose’ by Black Female Anonymous.
Now, if you’ve been following us, we reported on this story a few days ago when the crew of writer revealed the claims of sexual harassment against the CEO. Dennis resigned Tuesday, and Caroline Wanga takes his place as interim CEO of Essence Communications.
Essence said in statement sent to EURWeb, “Out of an abundance of caution and unwavering commitment to transparency, Essence is in the process of hiring law firms and other independent external experts to assess and review the company’s policies.”
Michelle Ebanks, who moved to the board of Essence Ventures was also one of the people called out to leave the company along with COO Joy Collins Profet and chief content officer Moana Luu.
